Course Syllabus for Psychology 11

  • Psychology is the scientific study of behaviour and mental processes. We’ll explore classic theories, the brain and nervous system, mental health, development, and social influence. We will continuously connect our learning to current events and your world as a teenager.

  • Unit 1: Foundations of Psychology

    Unit 2: Sleep, Dreams & Consciousness

    Unit 3: Personality, Identity, Relationships and Belonging

    Unit 4: Disorders, Trauma & Treatments

    Unit 5: Criminal Psychology & Forensics

    Unit 6: Motivation, Habits & Stress and Addiction

  • Your grade is based on a combination of projects, tests, reflections, and participation, aligned with the BC Curriculum for Psychology 11:

    ·       Projects (30%) – presentations, creative projects, applied activities

    ·       Tests & Quizzes (25%) – unit tests and short checks for understanding

    ·       Reflections (25%) – journals, free-writes, and personal connections

    ·       Participation (20%) – discussions, group work, and respectful conduct

  • ✅ Phones away during class (1st = reminder, 2nd = parent email, 3rd = office referral)

    ✅  Respectful listening – one person speaks at a time.

    ✅  Engagement counts – this can be through speaking, group work, or thoughtful writing.

    ✅  Be prepared – bring a notebook, pen/pencil every day.

Why is walking in the curriculum?
